Seek takes three distinct qualities into consideration: 1 – Aesthetic; 2- Quality & 3- Attainability. It’s a circular design and reasoning process that is used to perfect the product until balance is achieved. In doing so, 7115 creates some of the hardest-working, most effortless pieces in your closet for years to come.

Baggu is an environmentally conscious bag design company based in Brooklyn, New York and San Francisco, California. The Baggu founders, Emily Sugihara (born entrepreneur and Parsons fashion grad) and her mother Joan (master seamstress), set out in 2007 to share the minimalist designs they were sewing for themselves with bag enthusiasts everywhere.

Head designer, Siham Elmawey, states that C/MEO is more than a label, it is a way to represent a distinct form of self expression. The brand’s vision is to supply experimental designs that dictate future taste, and establish a unique aesthetic. Their values are based around their ambition to create a contemporary brand that believes in dissecting seasonal trends and mapping out where clean and contemporary fashion is heading. The house inquisitively works to create easy-to-wear styles that have the ability to shift between day and night.

New Zealand // Founded by Gosia Piatek - 2007

In 2007, with little experience and know-how, Gosia Piatek and her partner started Kowtow, an ethical and sustainable fashion business on a mere $5,000 grant from the government. Though that small amount of start-up did not stretch more than two weeks, their passion has allowed the company to grow to what it is today. Kowtow is a New Zealand based company making ethically produced and sustainable basics. They utilize 100% fair trade and organic cotton as well as ethically sound labor and production. Their signature is the traveling seam featured on their tees, which are all 100% cotton, with a surprising stretch and soft hand.

Kelly initially nurtured her design skills at the Sydney Tafe Fashion Design Studio, and continued to work with other Australian brands such as Zimmerman, Shakuhachi, and later Lee Jeans. She adds the essence of an urban environment to all her forms, with their minimalistic but edgy look. Her garments serve to hold a place in the modern women’s wardrobe, while bringing in an element of sophistication.

Toit Volant is a womenswear line that is just as passionate about their sustainable practices as they are their designs. By using small size fair labor factories, and responsible textile manufacturers they provide pieces that are personal, fashionable, sustainable, and affordable. They want their wearer to be conscious of the quality of the pieces, and considers this trust in the product a key part of their brand loyalty. Farahbella’s experience includes years of teaching at the Pratt Institute New York, Parsons The New School as the MFA design studio manager, and Raffles Institute Asia. Farahbella’s worldly travels give her an extensive background in the fashion industry, which shows through her unique and pragmatic view of the clothing industry as whole.

The Stowe uses buffalo hide for their bags which gives them a rich feel and high durability.

Finland // Founders: Klaartje Glashorster, Inge Hendriks & Sophie Soons - 2014

 

The three designers of studioRUIG collaborate to create carefully designed collections that are both effortless and androgynous. Their use of raw materials like leather contribute to the meaning of the brand’s word “ruig”, rough in Dutch. The imperfect properties of the material add to the lines unique aesthetic, while also encapsulating their nontraditional style.
